How Your Support Helps Fund Special Projects

When you contribute to the NPLSF, your tax deductible contributions will be used to support projects that help preserve the parks and educate visitors. Some examples of projects the foundation funding supports:

Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

  • Provide bear-resistant food storage lockers for camping areas on several Islands
  • Endow the Lakeshore's 60-mile trail system
  • Develop a "virtual tour" of Apostle Islands lighthouses

Grand Portage National Monument

  • Reconstruct main historic bridge over Grand Portage Creek
  • Endow mentorship program for Grand Portage Ojibwe youth
  • Develop interactive computer for those not able to travel the Grand Portage
