Kevin Spreng Joins NPLSF Board
NPLSF is pleased to welcome attorney Kevin Spreng to its board of directors. A corporate finance lawyer and Senior Partner at Fredrikson & Byron in Minneapolis, Spreng advises companies, investors, and funds on corporate structure, financing transactions, governance, mergers and acquisitions, and investment matters. He brings more than 30 years of legal experience working with emerging companies, private funds, investors, and boards.
“Kevin has provided vital pro bono advice to the foundation and holds a strong commitment to the future of Lake Superior and its parks,” said NPLSF Executive Director Tom Irvine. “We are thrilled to have him on board as we expand into larger capital projects and partnerships that will require strong financial and legal expertise.”
Spreng’s background in corporate finance, fund formation, investment structures, governance, and complex transactions will be put to good use as NPLSF evaluates mission aligned investment vehicles, and other creative approaches to funding long-term priorities, including conservation, park infrastructure, staff housing, education, and community engagement.
“My connection to national parks and the outdoors began long before my legal career,” says Spreng, who spent significant time in and around national parks, including Grand Portage National Monument and other areas of the North Shore. In college he considered a career in outdoor education and participated in outdoor organizations and activities, including Outward Bound and Operation Raleigh.
“Those experiences deepened my love of the outdoors and reinforced my belief in the value of connecting people, especially young people, with wilderness, and in particular our national parks,” Spreng said.
In his Board capacity, Spreng has already represented NPLSF at several events in the community. “Kevin can address complex legal issues and also stand behind the table at a public event sharing stories about Lake Superior and its parks,” said Irvine. “We are grateful that Kevin is contributing both his passion and expertise to advancing the mission of NPLSF.”
